Wan Marsh

Artist Statement

"As an Abstract Expressionist painter, my work is inspired by the beauty as well as the
cruelty of nature. My inspiration includes organic forms, cycles, seasons, growth,
life, death and regeneration. The surfaces on which I paint, are layered
endlessly. I paint intuitively, layering color, texture, line and shape developing a visual
universal language. My paintings are created in layers, just as the earth was created.
These layers engage the viewer to experience the purest essence of nature on the
deepest level. Forms are sometimes suggested in a conscious way, other times they are
purely abstracted thought. My art is mindful of the moment, deep and appreciative of life
and time passing. The intention is to fascinate and capture the viewer, speaking
quietly to the Spirit that resides in us all." - Wan Marsh
